American Plains Artists Show
Fort Concho National Historic Landmark: 630 S Oakes
10:00 am - 4:00 pm
The annual American Plains Artists Juried Exhibit and Sale returns to Fort Concho National Historic Landmark.
All art is for sale with purchases benefiting the artists, the American Plains Artists Association and Fort Concho. The show is located near the intersection of Flipper and Burgess Streets on the fortâs northeast corner.
This yearâs show features sixty-three paintings and seven sculptures from forty-one artists of the American Plains Artists group, representing fourteen states.
Organized in Denver City, Texas, in 1982 by a small group of artists, the APA promotes all art and sculpture works that depicts the nationâs Great Plains. This marks the 41st annual show and the sixth time since 2016 the show has come to San Angelo and Fort Concho.
Themes covered by this yearâs show include cowboys, Native Americans, wildlife of the Great Plains, farming and ranching scenes, natural vistas, and characters of the Old West.
Noted Fort Concho site manager Bob Bluthardt, âthis show represents our efforts to interpret history through another means. We cover our shared western heritage with music, arts/sculpture, sports, special exhibits and many programs. We also invite everyone to the annual National Cowboy Day program of Saturday, July 25, held at the show.â
The exhibit is housed in the Quartermaster Galleries, one of the first two buildings erected at Fort Concho in 1868. It was renovated in the early 1980s as the first home of the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts. When the art museum moved into its new facility in 1999, Fort Concho converted it for its own special displays, travelling exhibits, and as a rental venue for private events.
The show will be open, free of charge, until August 2 on Tuesdays through Saturdays, 10 am â 4 pm; Sundays 1:30 pm â 4:30 pm; closed on Mondays.
For more information about the show, please contact Fort Concho at (325) 481-2646

What the Constitution Means to Me
SAPAC- 82 Gillis St.
7:30 pm - 2:00 pm
Playwright Heidi Schreckâs boundary-breaking play breathes new life into the U.S. Constitution. Fifteen-year-oldâŻHeidi earned her college tuition by winning Constitutional debate competitions across the United States. In this hilarious, hopeful and achingly human play, she resurrects her teenage self in order to trace the profound relationship between four generations of women and the founding document that shaped their lives.
As the United States marks its 250th anniversary, this timely and deeply personal story invites us to reflect on who the Constitution was written for, and how each generation reinterprets its meaning.
Audience discussions will follow every performance.
Due to some mature language and content, recommended for 13+.

John Bauhman - Full Band Performance
The House of FiFi DuBois: 123 S Chadbourne St
8:00 pm - 10:00 pm
To quote Robert Keen, âitâs the little things.â John Baumann has that songwriters eye. His songs are populated with those little things from life. Familiar things that draw you in, paint pictures in your mind and make you say, âwish I would have thought of thatâ. Thatâs the great thing about this kind of songwriting, itâs not flashy in any kind of way, except itâs emotional depth. - Bruce Robison
Since his debut EP in 2012, John Baumann has established himself as equal parts brilliant songwriter and captivating entertainer. Heâs released four solo records, landed cuts with other artists - from Kenny Chesney to the Randy Rogers Band - and continued to cement his budding reputation as a distinctively talented singer-songwriter. He is always working on new material, maintaining a steady run of tour dates with his band and as a solo performer, while also a member of the acclaimed group The Panhandlers. Richard Skanse (Lonestar Music Magazine) writes: âToo soon for accolades? Nah, More like right on time. And so long as he keeps gunning for the horizon and doesnât succumb to the middle of the road, there oughta be a lot more of âem coming not too far down the line.â

JULIUS CAESAR
Mark your calendarâs for this timely tale of politics, government overthrows, and the true weight of power.
Johnny and his Spur Band found success on many levels playing the bar room and honky-tonk circuit from LaGrange, Texas to Ruidoso, NM. He remained busy in the 80âs and 90âs recording some of his top hits including, âShe Never Gets Mad, She Just Gets Evenâ, âFast Flight Back to Bostonâ, and âOnly On Paperâ landing him on the Texas Country Charts. Once recognized on the Texas Country Music Charts he was then pursued by promoters as the opening acts for such legends including David Allan Coe, Willie Nelson, Billy Joe Shaver, Steve Wariner, Rusty Weir, Johnny Paycheck, and Clint Black to name a few. Johnnyâs music caught the ear of Nashville recording artist and producer David Frizzell who is the brother of Country Music Hall of Famer Lefty Frizzell and also the duet partner of Shelly West. David Frizzell produced Johnnyâs first Nashville album. Johnny is married with three sons and currently resides in Midland, Texas.
Johnny took several years off of playing to raise his sons but his love for music kept him writing and playing. He has once again entered the music scene where he stays consistently booked and busy performing real country music. His most recent song released is âI STILL LOVE YOU, BUTâŠ.â Recently, he has performed at the Iconic stages of Lil Reds Longhorn Saloon in Fort Worth, the Broken Spoke in Austin and 11th Street Cowboy Bar in Bandera.
