Downtown Strong
Next Downtown Strong Event: Thursday, April 2, 2026
Pull on your boots and Saddle Up Downtown for a rodeo-themed evening of shopping, strolling, and western fun in the heart of San Angelo to kick off Rodeo Season!
During this special downtown stroll, participating businesses will transform into official Saddle Up stops, each offering something a little different along the trail. You might find a rodeo-themed special, a western treat, a fun activity, or a unique shopping experience waiting inside.
Participants will check in digitally as they visit each location, and shoppers can earn bonus entries into the event drawing by uploading receipts from purchases made during the stroll. It’s the perfect excuse to explore downtown, support local businesses, and discover new favorites along the way.
To make exploring even easier, a trolley will be traveling to each participating location on the event map, helping guests hop around downtown throughout the evening.
Whether you’re hunting for a new pair of boots, grabbing dinner with friends, or just enjoying the rodeo spirit downtown, there will be something fun waiting at every stop.
So grab your hat, bring a friend, and Saddle Up Downtown for a night of western fun and local shopping!

Johnny Blaine & The Spur Band
The House of FiFi DuBois - 123 S Chadbourne St
8:30 pm - 11:59 pm
Johnny Blaine Wilber was born in Beaumont, Texas on April 13, 1961. He is the son of Charles Lee “Beau” Wilber and Mary Anne Christ. Johnny spent the majority of his childhood in Hamshire, Texas and graduated from Hamshire-Fannett High School in 1979.
Johnny’s love for writing and singing country music was taught at an early age by his father who also played. After playing for years for his friends and the high school FFA bands he eventually won the famous Marlboro Country Star Search in Beaumont, TX. After years of playing the Southeast Texas bar scene he moved to West Texas in 1983 where he put together Johnny Blaine & The Spur Band.
Johnny and his Spur Band found success on many levels playing the bar room and honky-tonk circuit from LaGrange, Texas to Ruidoso, NM. He remained busy in the 80’s and 90’s recording some of his top hits including, “She Never Gets Mad, She Just Gets Even”, “Fast Flight Back to Boston”, and “Only On Paper” landing him on the Texas Country Charts. Once recognized on the Texas Country Music Charts he was then pursued by promoters as the opening acts for such legends including David Allan Coe, Willie Nelson, Billy Joe Shaver, Steve Wariner, Rusty Weir, Johnny Paycheck, and Clint Black to name a few. Johnny’s music caught the ear of Nashville recording artist and producer David Frizzell who is the brother of Country Music Hall of Famer Lefty Frizzell and also the duet partner of Shelly West. David Frizzell produced Johnny’s first Nashville album. Johnny is married with three sons and currently resides in Midland, Texas.
Johnny took several years off of playing to raise his sons but his love for music kept him writing and playing. He has once again entered the music scene where he stays consistently booked and busy performing real country music. His most recent song released is “I STILL LOVE YOU, BUT….” Recently, he has performed at the Iconic stages of Lil Reds Longhorn Saloon in Fort Worth, the Broken Spoke in Austin and 11th Street Cowboy Bar in Bandera.
